E-Waste Recycling Policy
Harpalyk Engineering Private Limited, registered at 2nd Floor, Plot No. 19, Sector 33, Gurgaon, Haryana 122001, operates www.harpalyk.com, facilitating the sale of robotic appliances and other products.
The rapid advancement of technology has improved lives but also led to a surge in electronic waste (E-Waste). Improper disposal of E-Waste poses serious environmental and health risks. To address this challenge, the Government of India, through the Ministry of Environment and Forests, introduced the E-Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2011, ensuring responsible waste management and disposal.
At Harpalyk Engineering, we are committed to environmentally responsible E-Waste management and encourage our users to adopt safe and sustainable disposal practices.”
Harpalyk’s Commitment to E-Waste Management
“
Harpalyk is dedicated to implementing E-Waste (Management and Handling) norms in India, ensuring responsible disposal and recycling of electronic waste.
What is E-Waste?
E-Waste refers to discarded electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), including both usable and non-usable materials. It often contains hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, and toxic gases, which can pose serious risks to human health and the environment if not managed properly.
Regulations & Compliance
The Government of India has introduced various initiatives to promote responsible e-waste disposal. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) oversees e-waste management rules to ensure compliance with environmental safety standards.
At Harpalyk, we are committed to fostering sustainable e-waste disposal practices and encouraging consumers to recycle electronic products responsibly.”
How You Can Contribute to E-Waste Management
“
To ensure responsible disposal and recycling of electronic waste, you can take the following steps:
✅ Identify E-Waste – Look for the E-Waste logo on electronic equipment before discarding it to determine proper disposal methods.
♻️ Participate in Recycling Initiatives – Support programs that promote sustainable e-waste management, including manufacturer take-back programs and authorized recycling centers.
🔄 Follow the 3Rs Principle – Adopt the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle approach to minimize waste generation and extend the lifespan of electronic products.
By making informed choices, we can collectively reduce environmental harm and contribute to a cleaner, greener future. “
Waste has been defined as-
“Substances or objects, which are disposed of or are intended to be disposed of, or are required to be disposed of by the provisions of national laws.”
E-waste has been defined as-
“Waste electrical and electronic equipment, whole or in part or rejects from their manufacturing and repair process, which are intended to be discarded.”
Electrical and electronic equipment has been defined as-
“Equipment which is dependent on electrical currents or electro-magnetic fields to be fully functional”.
Like hazardous waste, the problem of E-waste has become an immediate and long-term concern as its unregulated accumulation and recycling can lead to major environmental problems endangering human health. This calls for an urgent requirement of E-waste management so as to preserve the ecological balance and reduce landfills. Recycling end-of-life products is vital if we are to save resources and minimise waste.
In this regard, Reliance Digital Platform has tied up with The Pegasus, which is an ‘E-Waste Authorised Recycler’ (Producer Responsible Organization (PRO)), to facilitate disposal of E-waste products after its end-of-life by us as well as our customers.
AS AN ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS ORGANISATION, WE HAVE INITIATED VARIOUS ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE E-WASTE RECYCLING.
We recommend 100% recycling and disposal through ‘E-waste Authorized Recycler’ to avoid the adverse effects of E-waste.
ADVERSE EFFECTS OF E-WASTE
“Improper disposal of e-waste leads to severe environmental and health hazards, including:
⚠️ Soil, Air & Water Contamination – Toxic substances from e-waste seep into the environment, polluting natural resources and affecting ecosystems.
🌫️ Air Pollution – Burning of plastic, rubber, and other materials releases harmful gases, contributing to respiratory issues and climate change.
🔋 Hazardous Battery Waste – Batteries contain toxic elements like lead, cadmium, and mercury, posing serious health risks.
🛢️ Oil & Gas Emissions – Components like compressors and CRTs release harmful gases, leading to environmental pollution.
🚨 Impact on Living Organisms – Exposure to e-waste toxins affects humans, animals, and marine life, disrupting biodiversity.
🌍 Depletion of Natural Resources – Improper disposal leads to wastage of valuable materials that could otherwise be recycled and reused.
By adopting responsible e-waste management practices, we can reduce environmental damage and ensure a healthier future for all. ♻️🌱”
HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE TO A GREENER ENVIRONMENT?
All electrical and electronic products are required to be handed over only to ‘E-waste Authorized Recycler’ for recycling or disposal.
Keep E-waste in an isolated area after it becomes non-functional/un-repairable, so as to prevent its accidental breakage.
Please call on toll free number 18003090950 for collection of E-Waste.
You can also deposit your E-Waste directly at the collection centers.
Why Recycle?
Recycling is important because it helps protect the environment, saves natural resources, and reduces pollution. By recycling our materials, we create a healthier planet for ourselves and future generations. Recycling conserves natural resources, strengthens our economy and creates jobs.
Conserve Resources
Creating new products require raw resources. But when we recycle, existing materials can be put to use. Recycling reduces the extraction of fresh raw materials, and utilises existing material that are no longer in use. This assists in the conservation of natural resources.
Save Energy
Each time we recycle a product, it requires lesser energy than producing a new product from scratch. There is considerable savings as processes related to extraction of raw materials, its transportation, refining etc. can be skipped by utilising recycled products.
Prevent Pollution
Production and disposal of products require a great deal of extraction, refining, processing and dumping of material, which have a significant impact on the environment. By recycling, we mitigate pollution in air, water and land, thus reducing the greenhouse gas emissions which contributes to global warming.
Don’ts for E- Waste
“Don’t dump in regular trash: This sends hazardous materials to landfills, harming the environment.
“
Don’t dismantle yourself: Improper dismantling can release harmful substances and is often not safe.
Don’t give to informal collectors: Unregulated recycling practices can further pollute the environment. The product is not meant for re-sale to any unauthorized agencies/scrap dealer.
Don’t incinerate: Burning electronics releases toxic fumes into the air.
Don’t mix e-waste types: Separate different types of electronics for proper recycling.
Don’t forget data security: Always securely erase personal data before disposing of electronic devices.
Terms and Conditions
“At Harpalyk, we are committed to creating a cleaner and greener environment. This e-waste recycling initiative is a step towards sustainable waste management, and we encourage all our customers to participate in responsible disposal practices.
